”Taste the Future“ will have its first exhibition out of Venice at Rimonim Art Gallery during Art Basel Miami. Twenty-six international artists participanting in the exhibition ”Personal Structures“ during the 56th Venice Biennale 2015, have been invited by the ”Dutchartists“ group, Herman de Vries, Lisette Huizenga, Maartje Blans and Arnix Wilnoudt to take part of this worldwide, itinerant exhibition. The artists were asked to make a unique artwork with just one condition: it should fit in a pizza box.Together they form the ”Taste the Future“ art collection, to be exhibited in several places across the world.
Lili Nalovi and Jesko Willert are part of the „Taste the Future“ art collection with their ”Cabinet of Mourning“.To express their deep sorrow and mourning over the loss of their beloved portrait ”Burmese Boy Indein Market“ (the smallest of 12 paintings) which was stolen from their expansive installation in Room #5 at Palazzo Bembo at the very start of the 56 th La Biennale di Venezia, they created a three piece dedication: a ”Mourning Display“, a ”Moments of Mourning“ video and, in a pizza box, they made the ”Cabinet of Mourning“. Part of it is an article about the theft which was published in ”Il Gazettino“, 3 silvered Ex Votos: the eyes which look behind the scenes, the unprotected child and the hand that protects. A fine art print on Hahnemühle paper shows the ”Mourning Display“ which they displayed after the theft in Room #5 at Palazzo Bembo, along with a ”Madonna with Mojo“ , a Napolitan good-luck charm. To emphasize how precious it is, the box outside is gilded in gold leaf.
