In the context of the 56th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia the European Cultural Centre curated the exhibition “Personal Structures - Crossing Borders” at two Venetian Palazzi: Palazzo Bembo and Palazzo Mora. Lili Nalovi and Jesko Willert were part of the exhibition with an expansive installation in Palazzo Bembo. Their installation is closely connected to their months of travel through time and space; journeys that have deeply influenced their very existence, it revealed both the artists’ discoveries and surprises during their travels as well as their experiences and longings. In Palazzo Bembo, as in all their works, Nalovi and Willert created a highly atmospheric Gesamtkunstwerk in which they transform spaces, recycle lovingly chosen objects and intricately and imaginatively process materials. An integral part of the installations always include their sensitive portraits and contemplative water landscapes. These spaces invite us to linger and contemplate; they create a space that grants an existential perception of life and intense sensuality, and enable the visitor to partake in the external and internal journeys undertaken by the artists through space, time and existence.
A total of 105 artists from more than 50 countries have exhibited works on the theme of TIME SPACE EXISTENCE.
