Action Painting Mission School Padhar, India, 2013   Nalovi-Willert
Lili Nalovi and Jesko Willert developed their Action-Painting Project 2012 during their three-month stay as artists-in-residence on the island Lamu in Kenya and painted giant, open-air canvases together with the children of both the Shela primary school and the Anidan orphanage.
In September 2013, Lili Nalovi and Jesko Willert accompanied Prof. Thomas Kreusch's team of doctors to Padhar, India, to repeat their action-painting project as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Friends of Padhar, Germany e.V, who support not just the hospital in Padhar, but also three schools along with the educational facilities for the 400 children of the Mission School and the School for Blind, Deaf and Dumb, Mentally and Physically-handicapped children.
Together the children painted both sides of a 100 metre by 1.80 metre canvas which was again set up on giant open-air bamboo frames. Charcoal, normally used for cooking, was used for drawing.
The artists mixed the paints for the children from pigments that, like all their other materials, they bought locally.

Many thanks to the Lions Club www.lionselmshorn.de and www.friends-of-padhar.de for their support!
